Helping keep the Bulldogs in top physical shape falls under the domain of Matt Bauman, who is in his seventh year of duty as UMD's strength and conditioning coach.
Bauman, who works primarily with the Bulldogs' Division II-sport athletes, was promoted to his new post in 2011 after serving for three seasons as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach at UMD. Selected the 2010 NCAA II Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year by American Football Monthly magazine, Bauman interned with the National Basketball Assocation's Chicago Bulls during the 2008-09 season.
The Stratford, Wis., native holds a B.S. in health promotion and wellness from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (2008) and as Master's of Education degree from the University of Minnesota (2008).
Bauman, whose younger brother, Jordan, wrapped up his UMD football career in 2014, resides in Duluth with his wife, Katie, and their son, Bo, and daughter, Rowyn.
